Exclusive Paris Jones Interview

“My talent is the product of hard work since I was 13 years old and a love for music”

Paris Jones is a rapper producer from across the pond in America. He is currently gaining more and more fans daily, especially since people began to link him with Kanye West's 'GOOD' music label. MeshCulture is extremely excited to present a world exclusive interview for us to learn more about the rapper who is being described as a young Kanye West.

Who are your influences musically?

I consume so much music that it's hard to say. But my main influences are Cold Play, The Beatles, Jay Z, Club Feet, Kanye West, Passion Pit, Cam'ron, Oasis, J Dilla, and Mike Snow to name a few.

It is clear you’re an extremely talented producer. How does it make you feel when people put you on the same pedestal as Kanye West and claim that you should be part of GOOD music?

It's humbling. Kanye has always been someone I look up to. When I was 17 I locked myself in my room for an entire summer making 3 beats a day. I gained 30 lbs and my basketball coach wasn't happy about that. I say that so people don't think that what I have is natural ability. My talent is the product of hard work since I was 13 years old and a love for music. So when people say, I'm "GOOD Enough", than I'm just thankful and it pushes me to work harder.

To make ‘Popular’ at the age of 19 is by no mean feat. How long have you been making beats?

I've been producing music since I was 13. I started playing drums when I was 6 in church and started DJing when I was 11 years old. I've always been creating music.

Winter is another song of yours I’m really enjoying at the moment. I also love the video and the simplicity of it. The video does a great job of explaining the song, which isn’t your simple love song. Can you tell us more about the song?

Winter is actually about myself. It's about me battling myself about wanting to live a normal life or a "Hollywood" life. Winter represents the normal life. You know, wife and kids with a white picket fence. Summer represents the Hollywood life, the Rolling Stone type where you never have place to lay your head. Just traveling and performing. Glitz and glamour.
